Force Motors has quietly launched new variants of the Force One SUV – one being a base variant, while the other being a 4×4 variant with ABS and EBD. The Force One is now available in three variants – EX (Executive), SX (Superior) and LX (Luxury). The EX variant of the Force One is the base variant while the LX variant gets 4-wheel drive and ABS as standard. The SX is the variant which was originally launched by the company in 2011, but is now offered with ABS. Is Force Motors facing the heat from increased competition that the company quickly soft launched the new variants?

The Force One is now available with two engines. The SX and LX variants are powered by a 2.2-litre, common rail diesel engine which produces 141 PS of power at 3800 RPM and 321 Nm of torque between 1600-2400 RPM. The Force One EX on the other hand uses the Gurkha’s 2650cc turbo diesel engine which produces 82 PS of power at 3200 RPM and 230 Nm of torque between 1800-2000 RPM. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox but are completely different units. The base variant of the Force One is targeted at rural consumers as it is only BS-III compliant.

In order to the price the base variant of the Force One aggressively, the company has removed quite a few features. The tyres are highway pattern ones instead of all terrain ones with steel rims instead of alloys. The vehicle’s dimensions remain identical but day time running lights, indicators on rear view mirrors, roof rails, hub caps, rear wiper/washer/defogger, rear fog lamps, audio system, steering mounted controls, driver seat height adjust, leather seats, remote keyless entry, reverse parking sensors, cruise control, radio antenna, service due warning have all been dropped. The base variant does get body coloured bumpers, projector headlights, multi-information display, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and AC vents in all three rows.

Force Motors offers three variants of the Force One SUV. The LX variant which gets electronic shift on the fly 4-wheel drive system also gets a limited slip differential. The Force One range now starts at Rs. 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The base variant is available without captain seats while the SX variant is offered with the option of captain seats. The Force One’s last row is a 2-seater, so the vehicle is a 7-seater when the second row is a bench type seat. The prices of the LX (4×4) variant haven’t been announced yet. The vehicle is offered in 5 colours.
