Force Motors recently forayed into the passenger car segment and their current lineup consists of the Force One SUV and the Force Gurkha bare bones SUV. The Indian manufacturer is planning to expand its product portfolio further by adding two more MPVs. The multi-purpose vehicles in talks will be sourced from Mercedes-Benz. First up will be a premium MPV due for launch in this fiscal year, which is the rebadged version of the Mercedes Viano, spied earlier this year.
The Mercedes Viano is a full-sized 8-seater MPV, which will be made by Force Motors under license from Daimler. Recently, Force Motors were also caught testing another MPV, which is the Mercedes Vito van. The Vito caught testing is fully camouflaged and we have learnt that Force Motors will be launching the rebadged version of the Mercedes Vito too, alongside the Viano MPV. All in all, the Indian manufacturer is preparing to introduce two Mercedes sourced MPVs to the Indian market by 2015.
Force Motors is likely to launch their MPV based on the first generation Mercedes Vito, which was produced between 1996 and 2003. It was available as a standard panel van for cargo and with an option of passenger accommodations. Force Motors will plonk in the Daimler-Mercedes sourced 2.2-litre diesel engine to the rebadged Vito van. Force Motors has a busy schedule ahead, as the manufacturer is planning to launch the base variant of the Force One in the coming days, followed by the ABS version around September and later, the two MPVs.
