Force Motors to supply 2978 Gurkha SUVs to the Indian Defence Forces
Force Motors has announced a major development in its partnership with the Indian Defence Forces, having secured an order to supply 2978 units of its Gurkha SUV. This significant contract reinforces the company’s established presence in the domain of military-grade mobility solutions.
While the specific configuration of the vehicles designated for defence use hasn’t been revealed, the Gurkha is offered in both three-door and five-door variants. The SUV underwent a comprehensive update last year, receiving notable cosmetic and feature enhancements.
These include redesigned alloy wheels, refreshed headlamps, a new grille and upgraded cabin materials. Modern features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual front airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system contribute to its improved appeal.
The Gurkha is powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine, sourced from Mercedes-Benz, which now delivers 140 HP and 320 Nm of torque. With a class-leading ground clearance of 233 mm, the SUV is engineered to perform in demanding environments — a key requirement for military operations.
Though the civilian version of the Gurkha — priced at Rs. 18 lakhs (ex-showroom) — comes in a four-door format, the defence-spec units may differ based on operational needs and specifications.
