Force Gurkha 5-Door Teased, Launch Expected By May 2024

Force Gurkha 5 door to get cosmetic changes and more features over 3 door

Force Motors has teased their upcoming Gurkha 5 door. After extensive testing and numerous sightings of test mules across the country, the Gurkha 5 door is set to hit the Indian market by May 2024.

The Gurkha 5 door has been in development since 2022, promising some notable changes compared to its 3 door predecessor. Among these changes are cosmetic alterations, including new square headlamps replacing the circular ones, while retaining the two-slat grille. Additionally, the SUV will sport larger 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, potentially along with revisions to the front and rear bumpers.

One of the most anticipated modifications is the inclusion of two additional rear doors, expanding the accessibility and practicality of the Gurkha. Despite these alterations, the overall exterior design is expected to remain more or less the same.

Inside the cabin, the Gurkha 5 door is likely to offer a familiar layout but with a significant upgrade in terms of functionality. A shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob will be replacing the previous manual controls. Force Motors may provide various seating configurations, including a 5-seater two-row version, 6-seater three-row variant and a 7-seater option with individual captain seats for the third row.

Under the hood, the Gurkha 5 door is likely to retain the same 2.6-litre diesel engine sourced from Mercedes, coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission.

While the exact pricing remains undisclosed, it’s speculated that the Gurkha 5 door could command a premium of Rs. 2 lakh over its 3 door counterpart, which retails for Rs. 15.10 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The Gurkha 5 door will enter a segment with limited direct competitors including Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5 door, which is expected to launch by 2024 end.
