The 2022 model year KTM Duke 390 has been spied barely 2 weeks since the upgraded Duke 125 and 250 were seen undergoing testing.
KTM has been very busy with development of new models and new model launches of late and among the models the Austrian firm is currently working on includes the Duke 390.
Images of the 2022 KTM Duke 390 spied on test clearly show that the bike manufacturer wants its smaller Dukes to very closely resemble the 1290 Super Duke R.
Although the LED headlight cluster has been retained and so is the front suspension, the bodywork around the fuel tank has been extensively reworked, with the bike now sporting aggressive tank extensions.
On the left-hand side, the bodywork is likely set to get an air vent that would help move hot air from the rider’s body. The same goes for the general shape of the front bodywork that seems to be designed to not only make the bike more aerodynamic, but to help move as much hot air away from the rider as possible.
Other things that are new on the bike include the mirrors which are the same units as the ones on the brand’s hyper-naked motorcycle.
Moving along, the side profile of the 2022 KTM Duke 390 spied on test shows that the bike will get a revised frame and a brand new subframe and swingarm.
What’s more, like the 2022 Duke 250, the upgraded Duke 390 will also come with a side-mounted rear monoshock, while the tail lamp section is set to be revised as well.
One other thing to note is that, the new 2022 Duke 390 will come with the soon-to-be launched 2021 RC 390’s slim alloy wheels and the exhaust system looks to have once again become an underbelly unit.
In terms of powertrain, KTM is expected to carry on using the same 373cc single cylinder motor producing about 43 HP and 37 Nm of peak torque. Expect the 2022 Duke 390 to be unveiled later this year or early next year.
