Fisker will offer a lower-cost version of the Ocean SUV in India.
Fisker is an American company well-known for producing the Fisker Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid electric vehicle that debuted in 2008. Recently, Fisker revealed its electric SUV, Ocean at the ongoing 2020 Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas.
Fisker Ocean is a rival to Tesla Model Y. It features slim LED headlights and tail lights. It has a black roof with a spoiler at the rear. There is a large touchscreen at the centre, a smaller screen behind the steering wheel, that acts as the instrument console and there will be a heads-up display as well, which can also display lyrics of songs.
The Fisker Ocean uses an 80 kWh battery, which is claimed to offer a range of 480 kms on a single charge. The company also claims that the SUV will do 0-100 km/hr in around 3 seconds. The SUV will be offered in a two-wheel-drive as well as an all-wheel-drive variant. It will also feature a ‘California mode’ wherein all the windows of the car will open including the rear windscreen and activate a karaoke function similar to that rolled out by Tesla in 2019.
Fisker has now confirmed that they are looking forward to launching a lower-cost version of the Ocean in India which will be locally assembled to cut the prices. The car can be booked in a unique way, that is, through an app and will be delivered to the doorstep which will reduce the cost of the middleman and the benefit will be passed on to the customers.
