Skoda has pinned a lot of hope on this vehicle

Production of the Skoda Kushaq has commenced as the compact SUV’s official launch nears and the very first unit has rolled off the line at the firm’s facility situated at Chakan in Pune.

Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the compact SUV was revealed in March this year and Skoda has confirmed that the Kushaq will be launched later this month, while customer deliveries will begin in July.

The Czech carmaker claims to have managed to achieve localisation levels of up to 95 percent, which should result in the vehicle being priced on a par with its rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti S-Cross.

Sporting the brand’s latest design language, the Kushaq, in production form, will come in ‘Active’, ‘Ambition’ and ‘Style’ trims and with tonnes of features like LED lights, large touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, and more.

Further, the car’s 2651 mm wheelbase should translate into decent interior space, while the crossover styling should result in good practicality as well. The compact SUV has a cargo volume of 385 litres.

Skoda will offer the car with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol (115 PS and 175 Nm) and 1.5-litre turbo petrol (150 PS and 250 Nm) engine options, while gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed auto and 7-speed DSG.

The Skoda Kushaq production should be on at full chat by now and the carmaker might be looking to produce as many number of units as possible so as to be not short of supply after the car gets launched.

The 1.0-litre turbo petrol models are expected to be priced aggressively
