The Maruti Suzuki Baleno was launched in the Indian market last year and it defeated the best selling Hyundai Elite i20 within no time. The premium hatchback is also being exported to Japan and the first consignment has reached the Toyohashi port in Japan while it was dispatched from the Mundra port in Gujarat in January.
The Maruti Baleno is the first car from the automaker’s Indian subsidiary to be exported to Japan which is the homeland of parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation. The models to be exported will be produced at the automaker’s plant in Manesar and the first lot carried 1800 units.
Just ahead of this export, around 200 dealers from Japan visited the Manesar plant to closely examine the production of the Baleno. Maruti Suzuki has also revealed that the premium hatchback will be exported to about 100 other foreign markets that include Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, etc.
Maruti Suzuki and its supplier partners have invested Rs. 1060 crores for the development of the Baleno and it seems to be a very successful venture as the company has accepted around 80,000 bookings from the domestic market by now via its NEXA dealerships.
