Fifth Gen Hyundai Verna Spied For The First Time In South Korea

Hyundai will be launching an all-new generation of the Verna in 2016 and the vehicle has been photographed in South Korea amidst heavy camouflage.

The next generation Hyundai Verna will come with new exteriors and interiors

Hyundai launched the current generation Verna (fourth generation Accent) way back in 2010 and the sedan is available in various countries under the Solaris, Verna and Accent badges. The vehicle got a couple of mid-life updates but now it does seem a bit outdated. Hyundai is busy readying the next generation Verna and the vehicle has been spotted with heavy camouflage in South Korea. In India, the Verna has had a pretty successful run when the third generation Honda City was being sold, but then Honda launched the newest City which again knocked out the Verna from the top position.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna will come with a host of changes, both externally and internally. The front fascia will look completely new thanks to the redesigned bumper, bonnet and headlights. The rear will also get a redesigned bumper, boot lid and tail lamps. Hyundai might also add new alloys to the Verna. The interiors will get massive changes and the mid-size sedan will now ooze of a premium feel. Even though the current generation Verna is already loaded with lots of equipment, we expect the Korean automaker to further increase features on the vehicle.

Engine options being made available on the fifth generation Hyundai Verna are quite unknown though reports on the internet suggest that Hyundai will continue using the current range of powerplants, while a new 1.0-litre Kappa TCi 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor giving out 106 HP of power will be developed. As of now, the Indian version of the Verna gets 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines in both petrol and diesel guise. A 4-speed automatic transmission is also offered, while the all new Verna will make use of a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (also offered on the current model in Korea).

A new 7-speed DCT gearbox will also be offered on the Verna
