The re-launch of the Fiat Linea T-Jet has been a long time coming, with the vehicle appearing on the company’s website recently. Now Fiat marketing head, Mr. Sanjay G, has vouchsafed information that the company is planning to re-launch its flagship model, Linea T-Jet in the month of June this year. The Linea T-Jet was the first car in its segment that featured a turbocharged petrol engine in the country, which also appealed to a lot of petrol motor aficionados.
Although, Fiat discontinued the T-Jet after the steep fall in sales due to the availability of several other diesel options in the market with the same price tag at which the T-Jet was launched (Rs. 8,85,000/-, ex-showroom Delhi). Since the company commenced its business in India, the mediocre after sales service and exigency for independent dealership network also been a reason behind dissuaded buyers who refuse to invest their money in Fiat cars.
However, Fiat has now established a few dealerships and is aiming to have around 100 individual outlets by the end of 2013. The Linea will be launched with the same 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine as seen on the earlier model. The engine produces a peak power of 114 PS and 207 Nm torque, driven by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The T-Jet has also received many accolades for its performance and handling capabilities, which took it to the zenith in its segment.
Fiat India is planning to launch the T-Jet in two variants- Dynamic and Emotion, expected to be launched with some added tweaks like both variants will come with an increase in ground clearance. The Dynamic variant will have 185 mm while the Emotion variant will come with 190 mm of ground clearance respectively. A few other cosmetic changes may be done to make the car look new and fresh.
