Fiat has updated its cars for 2013 by giving really mild updates to the Linea and Punto. The company’s flagship Linea variant is the T-Jet, which was recently re-launched with small updates. The flagship Punto variant is the Punto 90 HP which hasn’t got any updates this year. The company launched the Punto 90 HP Sport last year which got slight changes like chrome inserts, exterior graphics and red stitching. There were no mechanical changes to the car at all and performance was the same as the regular Punto 90 HP.
Now Fiat plans to launch a mildly updated Punto 90 HP which gets a contrasting coloured roof. This is something which the automaker already offers in the European Puntos. The 2013 Fiat Punto 90 HP will be offered in three colours – white, red and black. All colours of the Punto 90 HP will have different roof colours to give that contrast effect. This is sure to add to the aesthetic appeal of the machine although it’s too little and a bit too late for the automaker to make such a move.
Fiat claims the Punto 90 HP is the most powerful diesel hatchback in the country. The vehicle is powered by a 1.3-litre, Multijet diesel engine which produces 93 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 209 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine is the same unit which is used by Maruti Suzuki on the Ertiga. We have bolted on a tuning box on the Punto 90 HP multiple times, which boosted horsepower to more than 100 BHP. This resulted in the Punto becoming a complete hooligan of sorts but don’t take our word for it, read our review HERE.
