Fiat had displayed the Avventura Crossover at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. Numerous pictures of the vehicle undergoing testing started floating everywhere on the web and the Avventura really generated quite some amount of buzz. After launching the Punto facelift, Fiat is now gearing up for the launch of the Avventura which will enter the market later this year. The Italian manufacturer has now started an online marketing campaign for the vehicle. The video shows the Avventura as an Urban, Free, Fun, Adventurous and Cool vehicle.
The Fiat Avventura is a Punto underneath with major cosmetic changes. The entire front and rear bumper assemblies are new while body cladding has been added. The headlights are shared with the Punto facelift though. While the Avventura concept carried projector headlights, the production version will come with conventional bulbs. The LED daytime running lights have made way for regular fog lamps. While the concept had skid plates in a dull grey shade, the production version will get a silver finish for the plates. Some other additions include roof-rails, hatch-mounted spare wheel and diamond cut alloy wheels.
Powering the Avventura will be the same diesel engine doing duty on the Punto. The 1.3-litre Multijet oil-burner produces 90 PS of power and 209 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Fiat had displayed the concept Avventura with a 6-speed gearbox but it is highly unlikely that it will make it to the production version. The Fiat Avventura will compete with the Ford EcoSport and Volkswagen Cross Polo, both of which too are pseudo SUVs. Expect it to be priced at around Rs. 9 lakhs.
