The Italian automotive OEM, Fiat SpA has opened its first independent dealership in the Indian market after breaking up its sales and service tie-up with Tata Motors. Earlier, Fiat India had a tie-up with Tata Motors under which the showrooms of Tata Motors were also displaying Fiat branded vehicles. The servicing of the Fiat vehicles was also taken care by Tata Motors. However, the tie-up didn’t work out quite well for the Indian market.
Post the split up with Tata Motors, Fiat India had announced that it will be setting up its own branded showrooms across the country. The first such independent, world class dealership was opened in Hyderabad today. Tejaswi Motors, at Punnaiah Plaza; this will be Fiat’s first outlet in India. The 5,400 sq ft showroom with a frontage of 80 feet is specially designed to give the real “Fiat” experience to its customers, another move by the company in strengthening its brand presence in India, after having launched its Fiat Caffe a few months ago.
The showroom which was opened by an existing Tata Fiat dealer will provide an enhanced FIAT buying experience. The dealership was inaugurated by Mr. Enrico Atanasio, Head- Commercial, Fiat India and Mr. A K Sinha- Country Head -Fiat Product Group, Tata Motors. Currently the dealership will only retail its two existent models: Linea and Punto. Fiat India has its manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune. It is capable of producing 200,000 cars and 350,000 engines, besides 300,000 parts & accessories.
