The Fiat Linea Elegante limited edition was recently launched and we have a quick look at it through some pictures.
The Fiat Linea is one low-selling car just like its stable mates. The Italian automaker seems to have some unsold stock from 2014 and hence Fiat launched the Linea Elegante, which is a limited edition spruced up model, for a price tag of Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Linea Elegante is available only with the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine that produces 90 HP of power at 4000 RPM and 209 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and has an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 20.4 km/l.
On the outside, the vehicle gets a lot of modifications and accessories. The roof comes in a glossy black finish and there are additional skirtings for the front and rear bumpers and the side running board. The front grille also comes in a shade of black now. Apart from all this, the Linea Elegante gets body vinyls and a boot spoiler too. The interiors come with a new 6.5-inch touchscreen audio system with navigation, new carpets, door sills and seat covers. There are no other changes to the vehicle except these.
Fiat is trying to sell the Linea hard but its efforts are going to go in vain. The company has a lot of potential with their awesome MJD engines but it seems that they are just not interested in increasing their foothold in India. At a price of Rs. 9.99 lakhs, the Linea Elegante is a dud on arrival thanks to the availability of newer and far better products in the market at the same price point. The Fiat Linea competes with sedans like the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
