Fiat has launched the Linea T-Jet in India, offering it in three variants having a starting price of Rs. 7.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company feels the demand for petrol powered cars is still there and almost every second Linea sold in the market is powered by a petrol engine. This statement is confusing considering Fiat’s focus on advertising only its diesel models, with the Multijet banners all across the country. The Fiat Linea T-Jet is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine which belts out 114 PS and 207 Nm. The vehicle returns a claimed mileage of 15.7 km/l which is by far the best for any petrol powered Fiat car in India.
According to Fiat, the Linea T-Jet is better than other petrol cars in its segment. The T-Jet motor is Euro 5 compliant and is offered in Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants. The base variant gets ABS, EBD, audio system and manual AC. The top variant gets dual airbags, remote control for audio system with tweeters, rear AC vent, Bluetooth connectivity, 16-inch alloy wheels and rain sensing wipers. It has a ground clearance of 190 mm, while the other two variants have a ground clearance of 185 mm, with 15-inch wheels. All variants get disc brakes on all wheels.
Fiat is focusing on expanding dealership network. The company has 58 dealers and is planning to expand them to 75 outlets soon. The Italian automaker claims to have the biggest spare part warehouse in South East Asia and will continue to focus on sales and service. The vehicle is offered with a 3-year warranty. Fiat has associated itself with ‘Superman: man of Steel’ movie and uses the tagline ‘Power to make the move’ for the MY2013 Linea T-Jet. The vehicle is available in 5 colours – white, black, grey, blue and maroon.
