The Abarth Punto will be launched in a month’s time and is available for bookings with 100+ exclusive dealerships in the country.
Easily the hottest hatchback in town that won’t burn a hole in your pocket, Fiat India has commenced accepting bookings for the new Abarth Punto in the country at a token amount of Rs. 50,000/- while the ex-showroom price is promised to be under the Rs. 10 lakh mark. In addition to commencing bookings, the automaker has started the ‘Who am I?’ promotional campaign for the Abarth Punto ahead of the official launch expected in a month’s time. So if you see a mysteriously camouflaged Punto parked outside Fiat dealerships, be aware that is the Abarth-tuned hot hatch.
Differentiating itself from the standard model, the Abarth Punto is the performance tuned version drawing power from a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine churning out 145 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. Keeping up with the uprated power, the Scorpion badged Punto gets a stiffened suspension setup, while stopping power has been improved courtesy of new rear disc brakes. You also get ABS for better control while dual front airbags are offered as standard.
In terms of cosmetic upgrades, the Abarth Punto gets a lowered ground clearance, new Scorpion claw shaped alloy wheels, Abarth body decals with contrast painted ORVMs, and meaty 195/55/R16 tyres. Inside the cabin, the hot hatch gets an all-black cabin, aluminium pedals, new fabric upholstery with contrast stitching and the Scorpion badge on the steering wheel. Leaving all inhibitions behind, Fiat has made sure to please the enthusiast with its latest offering and keeping up with the same, the automaker will also launch an Abarth version of the Avventura later in the timeline, while reports of an Abarth Linea are also doing rounds.
