The 455 2014 Fiat Punto Evo’s comprised of petrol and diesel variants and were given to employees at a Surat based diamond firm as a bonus for Diwali along with the 200 houses and jewellery items. This was the biggest single delivery of cars in India till date.
Fiat India fulfilled the largest order for hatchbacks in a single day comprising of 455 units of the 2014 Punto Evo that were delivered to a Surat based diamond firm, Hari Krishna Exports. While it is common for large corporates or firms to pick up cars in bulk for business purposes, this diamond firm used the B-segment hatchback as gifts ahead of the festival of Diwali to its employees. The company gifted the 455 units of Punto along with 200 houses and jewellery itsm all worth Rs. 50 crores to its 1200 employees as part of a loyalty program.
The order comprised of 190 units of the 1.2-litre petrol and 265 units of the 1.3-litre diesel variants of the 2014 Fiat Punto Evo done up in new pearl white and minimal grey colour shades. Refreshed earlier this year, the Punto gets a new front and rear fascia, updated interiors and new features added to the cabin. You get dashboard ambient lighting, dual front airbags, Blue & me with SMS read out, USB and AUX connectivity, follow me home headlamps, smart wipers and a lot more as part of the standard package. The hatchback rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and comes with a 3-year warranty. Prices for the 2014 Punto Evo start at Rs. 4.63 lakhs going up to Rs. 6.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Surat).
Going further the Oprah way, the diamond firm chose gifts for the employees based on their needs. Employees needing a car, received the same as a gift, while those without a house received likewise (part payment for the house). In the same way, those who had both a car and house received jewellery instead. A one of its kind gesture by the diamond firm, the HR department better be prepared to handle hundreds of new job applicantions. As for the employees, nothing says ‘I love the festival of lights’ more effectively than follow-me headlamps. However, in the midst of it all, it is Fiat that is having a happy and prosperous Diwali this year.
