After the launch of the Punto Abarth, Fiat will then introduce the Avventura Abarth which is also big on performance. The claimed fuel economy for the Fiat Avventura Abarth is 17.1 km/l.
Along with the Fiat Punto Abarth, it is the Avventura Abarth which is equally much-awaited in our market. The Avventura Abarth will come with the same 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 145 HP of power and 210 Nm of torque. The crossover accelerates from 0 km/hr to the ton in 9.9 seconds which is pretty quick while it also has an ARAI-tested fuel efficiency of 17.1 km/l. The vehicle takes 31.8 seconds to go from standstill to 1000 metres (1 km).
The Avventura Abarth will carry some styling changes. The vehicle will get Abarth branded stickers on the side, body racing stripes, Scorpion logo on the roof and subtle Abarth logos. Fiat will be providing 16-inch alloy wheels and all four disc brakes on the Abarth Avventura too. No other changes will be made apart from the ones that we just mentioned. Since the vehicle will be offered in only one trim, we can expect dual front airbags and ABS with EBD to be offered as standard.
The crossover segment in India has a lot of options like the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross, Ford EcoSport and Hyundai i20 Active apart from the Fiat Avventura of course. The Italian is the only one to get a hot performance version while the other rivals seem to be happy generating sales with their diesel models. Fiat has a pretty good fan following in the country and the Abarth models will surely generate a lot of interest.
However, fit and finish, better service, etc. are just some of the areas where rivals have an edge over Fiat and now the ball is in Fiat’s court and it remains to be seen whether the company really improves its marketing and visibility or not. Both Abarth as well as Jeep have been delayed by a very long time but it’s good to see that at least the former is being launched soon.
