Fiat has given the Aegea sedan the Egea name and the vehicle is all set to be launched in Turkey in November 2015. India launch not decided yet.
The upcoming Fiat Linea successor is all set to go on sale in global markets in November 2015. The vehicle, which was earlier called the Aegea has now been christened Egea for the production model. The sedan was first shown to the public at the Istanbul Motor Show earlier this year and Turkey will be one of the first countries where the Egea will go on sale. The vehicle will be brought down to India also but as of now no particular time frame has been confirmed but we expect Fiat to launch it here not before 2017-end. The Egea will be launched in a total of 40 countries.
Fiat cars have always had good looks and the Egea is no different. The vehicle has been designed at the FCA Style Centre in Turkey and a huge team of 2000 people have worked on it for a period of three years. The Italian sedan looks great all around and has very good proportions. It is also a tad bigger than the Linea having a length of 4500 mm and a large 510-litres boot. The vehicle will come with regular features that you can expect in any C-segment sedan. A 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system will be offered which has GPS functionality too.
The Fiat Egea will come with the same engines as the Linea and power figures will be ranging from 95 PS to 120 PS. The vehicle will give out a claimed fuel efficiency of 25 km/l for the most frugal engine tune. Fiat will manufacture the vehicle at the Tofas factory in Bursa, Turkey and export it to other countries from there. The Egea seems like a pretty good replacement for the Linea but it would have been even better if the Italian automaker would speed up its processes and get the car to India sooner, more so since the Linea is now quite dated and not many buyers in that segment prefer it.
