The Fiat 500 Abarth with the Essesse kit was spotted at a dealership in the country and is scheduled for launch some time in November this year.
Scheduled for launch in November this year, the 500 Abarth has started arriving at Fiat dealerships across the country and was spotted on display at one such outlet complete with the Essesse kit and Competizone gearbox. Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in February, the 500 Abarth is the sportier version of the cute little retro hatchback and will be arriving in the country via the CBU route competing against arch rival MINI followed by the Mercedes A-Class, BMW 1-Series, Volvo V40 and the likes in the segment. The hatch comes with a host of goodies on the outside including Abarth decals, sporty alloy wheels and the Scorpion badging that gives away its sporty credentials.
A quick recap on the specifications, the Fiat 500 Abarth is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged Multi-Air engine that produces 135 BHP and 230 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is also a possibility of the Competizone gearbox equipped version to launch in the country that produces 140 BHP and 206 Nm of torque. The hot hatch can do 0-100 km/hr in 7.9 seconds on the regular version, while the Competizone edition takes 8.1 seconds. The top speed is rated at 205 km/hr on both the versions.
Keeping all that power in control, the Fiat 500 Abarth comes with Torque Transfer Control (TTC) with an electronic limited slip differential, 7 airbags, ABS, EBD and HBA as part of standard kit. You also get lowered suspension with up-rated springs for improved performance. On the inside, the retro cabin gets sporty a treatment with dual-tone dashboard, sport seats, flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminium pedals, gear shift indicator and sunroof. The car rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the dual exhaust adds to the overall sporty package. Prices for the 500 Abarth is expected to start around Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the country.
