‘Fast & Furious’ Movie Series To End With 11th Instalment

Loved the world over, the Fast & Furious series movies are known for their exotic cars, gravity defying stunts and the thieves-turned-heroes squad headed by fictional character Dominic Toretto.
Eight movies from the franchise have hit theatres worldwide and over the course of two decades, a cult following has formed with regard to the same.
While the ninth instalment, thoughtfully named F9, is ready, its screening has been postponed to 31st May next year due to COVID-19.
Now, it has been revealed that the whole core Fast & Furious franchise will wrap up with the 11th and final instalment that will be directed by Justin Lin who also pulled the strings for the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth films.
But, while the main storyline will end, spin-offs like the “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” movies starring characters of the Fast & Furious franchise will continue to be made. Up to when? Well, till eternity?!
The whole movie series kicked off in 2001 starring Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto and late Paul Walker as Brian O’Conner and went on to become a huge, huge success the world over.
To put it into context, the Furious 7 movie made $1.16 billion (Rs. 8545 crores) in foreign grosses, while in the USA, it earned $353 million (Rs. 2600 crores).
Film stars such as Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson, have been regulars in the franchise, while many others like Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Sung Kang, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and most recently John Cena (in F9) have also played important roles.
