The Mercedes X-Class did not find many takers, but one owner has made a 6×6 version of the pickup, presumably having found the regular version not to his or her liking.
The Mercedes X-Class 6×6 is in effect a regular 350d X-Class which has been altered slightly. It was given a new subframe which allowed for the fitment of a third axle and a pair of additional wheels.
Then, the suspension was jacked up by 100 mm to make room for the custom-made alloy wheels wrapped with off-road tyres. What’s more, the bed of the truck has been lengthened, and a roll bar has also been added.
To make the 6×6 X-Class look more rugged, flared wheel arches have been fitted both at the front and rear, plastic cladding has been integrated into the lower portion of the doors, while the radiator grille has been changed too.
Should a person fail to see that this pickup is a bit different to the regular X-Class, the “6 Wheeler” decal on the tailgate will address that issue.
Powering the X-Class 6×6 is a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that makes 255 HP and 550 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Recently sold through an exotic car consultancy situated in The Netherlands, Mercedes X-Class 6×6, thanks to all the modifications, is a proper off-roading vehicle. Although, it will not find itself out of place at a car exposition either.
