Tata Sierra EV looks ready to go into production with this 5-door design
We all remember the iconic Tata Sierra that was launched in 1991 with a two-door SUV design and curved rear windows. It was well ahead of its time with the unique character it showcased in the Indian market. Tata Motors is reviving the Sierra nameplate, they showcased a 3-door concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and later revealed a bigger 5-door concept with revised styling at the 2023 Auto Expo.
The Indian carmaker has patented the design of the Tata Sierra EV and it reveals interesting design details that could go into production. The front profile gets a clean look with an LED strip running across the width of the SUV. It gets bumper integrated headlights, muscular bonnet and a skid plate up front for that rugged look.
The overall stance looks inspired from the Land Rover Discovery. Notice the flush door handles on the side profile which could go into production. The alloy wheels look big and flashy with the busy design. There is a kink on the B-pillar, the lower-half of the body gets thick cladding and the C & D-pillars have a huge glass area for an airy cabin.
The production version of the Sierra will look more or less the same with mild changes to make it a more practical looking SUV. The interior is expected to have a premium appeal as showcased in the concept version. It will be loaded with advanced features.
While the new Sierra will be launched with an all-electric powertrain, we can expect Tata to introduce an ICE version as well to make it more desirable for a wider audience. The production version is expected to hit the showrooms in 2025.
