EXCLUSIVE – Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Spotted For The First Time

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 spotted with premium hardware, launch likely in 2025

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 has been spied testing for the first time. The test mule of the adventure motorcycle is heavily camouflaged but there are a few details that clearly give away the identity of the bike. It has been spotted in Chennai by MotorBeamer Ishant Singh, near the Royal Enfield manufacturing unit.

Some of the highlights of the Himalayan 650 include spoked wheels, dual petal disc brakes up front, sizeable instrument cluster (the spotter says it is digital), fully adjustable USD forks, meaty upswept exhaust, split seat setup, split grab handles along with LED blinkers.

Royal Enfield is set to offer premium looks with the 650cc adventure motorcycle. It will get a new design language inspired by Dakar rally bikes to some extent. It might look similar to the Yamaha Tenere or the Honda Africa Twin.

We can expect RE to introduce new features with the premium Himalayan. In terms of performance, it will be powered by the same 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine sourced from its siblings. It currently produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. However, there might be slight tweaks and remapping to this engine to suit the character of the adventure motorcycle.

The bike is currently in its initial stages of testing and we can expect the motorcycle maker to introduce the final production version later in 2025. In terms of pricing, we expect it to be priced under Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan 450 last year with a starting price of Rs. 2.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 451.65cc, liquid cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine that produces 40.02 PS at 8000 RPM and 40 Nm torque at 5500 RPM.

Of course, the Himalayan 650 will be positioned above the 450 and come with unique colour options and different styling as well to differentiate the two products.
