Hero Xude leaked in patent images, likely to be the new 125cc scooter
Hero MotoCorp has registered a new name recently – Hero Xude. At the same time, a design patent has been filed by the Indian two-wheeler maker which reveals a scooter that is likely to be a new 125cc variant, positioned above the Hero Xoom.
A couple of months back a new camouflaged scooter was spotted testing near the company’s Jaipur based R&D centre. It featured larger rear wheel and Xoom borrowed body panels. We believe this is the same scooter that Hero is preparing to launch in the 125cc segment.
The leaked patent design reveals a sharp front profile with split headlight cluster, sharp alloy wheel design, flat and spacious footboard, wide seat and split grab handles at the rear. The scooter will be offered with more features to differentiate the two products. It is expected to come with the Xtec system, digital cluster with smartphone connectivity, etc.
Hero MotoCorp currently offers the Maestro Edge and Destini with a 125cc engine option. The same engine is likely to be plonked on this scooter, which produces 9 HP at 7000 RPM and 10.4 Nm at 5500 RPM. It is yet to be seen what specs will be offered with the upcoming scooter and it might have a different tuning to suit its character.
The Indian two-wheeler maker is expected to introduce the new scooter by the end of this year or early next year. What are your thoughts about the new design and name? Let us know in the comments section.
