The 4th generation Honda City crosses sales of 2.5 lakh units, making it the best-selling City ever from Honda.
Honda has achieved the milestone of selling over 2.5 lakh units of the 4th generation City. Launched back in 2014, the automaker has managed to reach that number in just 42 months, making the 4th generation Honda City, the best-selling City ever for the Japanese carmaker.
The 4th generation Honda City is the first ever City to be offered with a diesel engine and a new generation CVT transmission . While the diesel engine was eagerly waited for, over 30 percent customers have opted for the CVT variant for the ease of drive it offers in city traffic.
Honda says India is the largest and the most important market for the City with over 25 percent of the car’s worldwide sales coming from India. For many years, the Honda City has held a special place in the Indian customers’ hearts and is still the benchmark in its segment. While globally, the sedan has sold over 3.5 million units in more than 60 countries and of this, over 1 million units are attributed to the 4th generation City.
The 4th generation Honda City offers a lot of features like the Electric Sunroof, Reverse Parking Camera, Cruise Control, Leather Seats, 16-inch Diamond-cut Alloy Wheels, Automatic Climate Control, 7-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, Airbags and ABS with EBD.
Powering the 4th generation Honda City are 2 engine options, a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 100 HP and 200 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 119 HP and 145 Nm of torque. While the diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox.
