European Hyundai i20 facelift has been revealed; slated to be launched in Europe later this year.
Making its first appearance in August 2014, the second-gen Hyundai i20 was launched a couple of months later in Europe. The Korean automaker has now revealed a facelifted version of the B-segment hatchback which graces it with more features, revised styling and a new automatic gearbox among other things. The Hyundai i20 facelift will go on sale in European markets in the coming months. Let us take you through the changes in a jiffy.
Apart from redesigned bumpers, the car features a cascading grille up front, a new design for the 15-inch and 16-inch alloy wheels as well as tweaked tail lamps. At the back, the licence plate moves up from the bumper to the bootlid. The overall design now looks similar to that of the Hyundai Elite i20 currently on sale in India, which was updated for the Indian audience in February this year.
Apart from a host of new colour options such as Champion Blue, Tomato Red and Clean Slate, the European i20 also gets an option of a panoramic sunroof. Inside the cabin, the car gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity while features such as GPS navigation and Live Services are exclusive to higher trims.
The hatchback is high on safety tech and now comes with Hyundai SmartSense suite apart from the existing equipment on offer including 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management, Lane Departure Warning System, tyre pressure monitoring system, Hill-start Assist Control and static bending lights. The SmartSense suite is standard on higher variants and comprises of driver assistance systems such as Lane Keeping Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert and High Beam Assist.
Powering the facelifted i20 are a slew of petrol engines with displacements varying from 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre and power outputs ranging from 75 PS to 120 PS. Apart from offering the 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmissions and 4-speed automatic gearbox of the current i20, the company has also introduced a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
