KTM has revealed details and pictures of its 2013 dirt bike line-up. The Austrian automaker has not revealed the power of the bikes but has revealed the details about the engine. There are a host of new engines including 149cc, 249cc, 250cc, 350cc and 450cc engines. All these engines are single-cylinder motors mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Now with Bajaj Auto and KTM developing a 350cc Duke for the Indian market, could the recently unveiled 350cc engine power it? The Bajaj-KTM 350 is expected to be launched in 2013.
The 350cc engine revealed by KTM recently powers the 2013 KTM 350 SX-F. It features a 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, spark-ignition engine. This engine could be adapted for the Duke 350, with power and torque figures tuned accordingly. KTM has made changes to the 350cc engine by giving it a new cylinder head, enlarged water jacked, resonance chamber, Panki rod and high tech die-cast cases. The Austrian company has also enlarged the EFI throttle body from 42mm to 44mm.
The 2013 KTM 350 SX-F (pictured here) uses upside down forks at the front, which is made by WP. The frame is a central tubular one, made from chrome molybdenum steel tubes. Both the front and rear feature disc brakes which are 260mm and 220mm in size respectively. The fuel tank capacity is 7.5-liters, while the weight is just 105 kgs. Similar dirt bikes are available with lower capacity engines, but the 250cc and above engines are 4-stroke, while the ones below it are 2-stroke engines.
