Engg Students Build Tiltable Compact Nano Out Of Scrap

We are aware about many modifications done on the Tata Nano in the form of Nano Art or Nano DC and many more but three engineering students from Bangalore have come up with a unique version of the Tata Nano made from scrap. Sanu Rahman, Syed Zeeshan, and Syed Arif Ullah are final year mechanical engineering students from HKBK College of Engineering, who came up with this 150cc Nano as part of their final year project. It took them just three months to complete the project. They have named their creation as Saz.

The students have spent Rs. 1.5 lakhs on the Saz project, including R&D, wastage and scrap. They believe that if the car hits the mass production lines, it will cost between Rs. 75,000/- and Rs. 80,000/- each. The Saz has been built mostly out of scrap. Engine fabrication, chassis design, the unique floating suspension, body fabrication, steering, transmission, aesthetics, interiors, logo design etc. are done by the students themselves with the help of welding, cutting, grinding, brazing, tinkering, painting and similar operations. The students have designed the Saz with a unique and innovative independent front and back floating type suspension system which allows it to be maneuvered like a two-wheeler. It features a 150cc, single cylinder, 2-stroke engine producing 8 BHP of power.

The Saz has a single seat up front and a rear seat with a capacity of two people. Their aim was to make a vehicle which would be a convergence of a car and a motorcycle. The Saz runs on petrol and LPG combination featuring a hydro-mileage booster which uses a high frequency pulsed current to fracture water into gas. The Saz manages to return a mileage of 25 km/l – 30 km/l on petrol and 35 km/l – 40 km/l on LPG. The car has compact dimensions – 10 feet long and 3 feet 6 inches wide, which is almost half of any conventional small car to tackle tight city traffic and parking situations. The Saz is not a looker but it surely is a great innovative prototype for congested city conditions in India.
