KTM had introduced the Duke 390 at the 2012 EICMA show in Milan. The Duke 390 is the elder sibling of the Duke 200 offering sportier performance characteristics and powerful engine. The streetbike features a 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 373.2cc fuel injected engine with a DOHC layout. The engine produces a maximum power output of 44 PS at 9500 RPM with 35 Nm of peak torque at 7250 RPM mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is expected to do a 0 – 100 km/hr sprint in less than 7 seconds.
The KTM Duke 390 will be hitting the Indian shores by the month of June this year with an expected price tag of Rs. 2.3-2.5 lakhs. The high performance motorcycle will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant. It is confirmed that the manufacturer has no plans to introduce the Duke 125 in India even though it is made here for exports. The Duke 125 is a beginners bike for the European market. Post the launch of the KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Auto will be introducing the new Pulsar 375 early next year.
Currently the Pulsar 375 is under works and will be positioned just under the KTM Duke 390 with an affordable price tag. The Bajaj Pulsar 375 will be powered by a single-cylinder engine, with peak power output being around 40 BHP and a peak torque figure of around 30 Nm. The upcoming Pulsar 375 could feature triple spark plug technology. In terms of styling, the Pulsar 375 will be a full fared machine and is going to be the most powerful Pulsar till date.
