Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak version has been launched; only a limited number to be made available.
Celebrating the win of racer Carlin Dunne at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race held in Colorado, Ducati has launched the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak version in India. The Italian bikemaker had launched the Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S in the country recently, and the new Pikes Peak edition is based on the latter. Priced at Rs. 21.42 lakhs (ex-showroom, India), the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak gets a race-inspired paint scheme along with many more changes.
First up, the bike gets new forged aluminium alloy wheels and revised chassis dimensions, which have been achieved with the use of different front-end geometry and a longer swingarm. Features of the 1260 S, including back-lit handlebar controls, automatic turn signal cancellation, full-LED headlight, cornering lights, four riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro), Ducati Wheelie Control and cruise control, have been carried over to the Pikes Peak version.
The motorcycle also benefits from a lot of exclusive equipment including a Termignoni exhaust setup, Ohlins suspension at both ends, bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS and a lot of carbon-fibre bits such as the visor, front fender and air intake covers. In spite of all this, the Pikes Peak version weighs lower than the standard 1260 and 1260 S.
Powering the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak is a 1262cc L-twin motor with DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) that comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It churns out 158 PS of power at 9500 RPM and 129.5 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. In terms of competition, the motorcycle takes the BMW S1000XR Pro head-on. Bookings of the model have started from today and deliveries are expected to begin from next month.
