Ducati will be commencing its operations in India by the end of March and will be initially operating from two dealerships located in NCR and Mumbai.
All set to commence its Indian operations with the help of parent company Audi, Ducati has started importing its range of sports bikes in large numbers from Thailand via the CBU route. The manufacturer is set to officially launch its range of offerings by the end of March or early April in the country. The Italian motorcycle maker already has its first two dealerships set-up in Sector-34, Gurgaon and Bandra, Mumbai that will be catering to the demand. More dealerships in major metros are expected to be added later in the year.
The motorcycles arrived in India from Thailand are the Monster 795, Monster 796 ABS, Hyperstrada, Panigale 899 ABS, Diavel, Diavel Carbon and Hypermotard. The Monster 795 and 796 ABS will be the manufacturer’s most affordable and thereby most popular offerings, and have been imported in large quantities to address the demand. The recently introduced Scrambler is not part of the initial import but is likely to be made available later in the year.
India and Thailand have healthy trade agreements which will certainly benefit Ducati in keeping the prices competitive. While Ducati was working with a private importer earlier, the new innings will see the company make significant investments while also cater to the growing performance market demand more effectively. The success of its initial offerings could also prompt the manufacturer to launch a more affordable Monster 696 in the country to further improve sales.
