Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono launched in India
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, a single-cylinder Hypermotard, is launched in India with a price tag of ₹ 16,50,000/-. The Mono is available in two colours, the Ducati Red and the special RVE colour scheme as well.
It is the first modern-day single-cylinder motorcycle from Ducati under the Hypermotard family and it carries the Hypermotard supermoto design language. Tiny headlamp upfront along with a high-rise mudguard, golden USD forks and an almost-flat handlebar with knuckle guards. The fuel tank can carry 12-liters of petrol while it has an exposed engine, flat and tall seat with dual exhausts at the tail.
The Ducati Hypermotard Mono will be the tallest single-cylinder motorcycle in India with a standard seat height of 904 mm. Yet it will get a low seat accessory bringing it down to 889 mm. To make it even more accessible at 849 mm, one can also opt for a low seat with low suspension kit accessory as well.
This Hypermotard is powered by a 659cc single-cylinder Superquadro Mono engine and it is liquid-cooled. The motor produces 77.5 BHP and 63 Nm of torque making it the most powerful single-cylinder motorcycle in India as well. While it is the lightest too at 151 kgs kerb weight without fuel.
To keep things in control for such performance on tap, the Ducati Hypermotard Mono is equipped with multiple riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control as well as wheelie control. It also gets engine brake control completing the whole electronics safety pack Ducati offers with almost all of its motorcycles.
Tubular trellis frame packs everything very well and it rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres on both the ends. A 120-section front and a 160-section tyre at the rear both running 17-inch alloys. Fully adjustable 45 mm Marzocchi forks with 215 mm travel and Sachs mono shock with 240 mm travel at the rear make the ride even more fun.
Braking duties are managed by a single 330 mm disc upfront with Brembo M4.32 calliper and a 245 mm disc at the rear. It is a hoon to ride at the standard equipment also includes Ducati launch control system along with a bi-driectional quick shifter.
The Ducati Hypermotard Mono will return a mileage number upwards of 22 km/l, however that depends on how one prefers to ride and enjoy a super lightweight supermoto motorcycle.
The only setback is the pricing due to sub-800cc CBU laws making the Ducati Hypermotard Mono costlier than the Ducati Hypermotard 950 which is already on sale in India.
