The new facility will be manufacturing the new range of offerings from Benelli and Hyosung and will have a production capacity of 1,20,000 units per annum.

The new facility will be operational over the next two years & is located near Pune

DSK Motowheels that handles the assembly, sales and distribution of Hyosung and now Benelli’s range of motorcycles plans to invest Rs. 400 crores in a new manufacturing facility near Pune. Its second manufacturing plant, the company will be producing the offerings from Hyosung and Benelli that were recently unveiled and will be launched consecutively in the following month. DSK is looking at a production capacity of around 1,20,000 units per shift annually and the plant will be ready for production in the next two years.

DSK’s existing plant currently produces only 3000 units a year and assembles the Hyosung bikes ranging from the GT250R to the Aquila Pro 650 and ST7 cruisers. Earlier this year, the company signed a manufacturing and sales agreement with Italian two-wheeler maker Benelli making India the first Asian market to get the motorcycles. With the Benelli range all set to be offered in the country, the company will be expanding its production capacity to 5000 units a year by adding another shift, which will ensure that the demand is met over the next one year.

Benelli India will be offering 5 motorcycles in the country spanning across different segments that include the BN 302 street fighter, which will be its most affordable offering competing against the Kawasaki Z250, KTM Duke 390 and the likes in the segment. The company’s other offerings include the BN 600i and BN 600 GT middle-weight motorcycles, while the superbike space will see the TNT 899 and the flagship TNT 1130R on offer. Apart from Benelli, Hyosung too has its lineup planned for 2015 which include the GD250N and the RT250D models.
