DSK Motowheels To Launch Keeway Superlight 200 Cruiser In India

Keeway Superlight 200

DSK Motorwheels has imported one unit of the Keeway Superlight 200 cruiser in SKD condition. They would soon be launching the bike in India.

The exposed wires and no front cover for the engine makes it look unfinished

DSK Motowheels, the company which currently handles Hyosung and Benelli range of bikes in India had earlier suggested that they would launch the budget bike brand Keeway in India in 2015. They seem to be working towards it because they have recently imported one unit of the Superlight 200 in semi-knockdown (SKD) condition. The Keeway bikes are expected to be assembled at DSK’s facility in Wai, Maharashtra. This would help them avoid high taxes for CBU imports and will enable them to price the Keeway range competitively.

The Keeway Superlight 200 is powered by a 197cc single-cylinder engine which produces 12.7 BHP of power and 14 Nm of torque. The length of the cruiser bike is 2260 mm which is fairly long. The length will help the bike grab attention on the streets. The bike features an all-black theme along with a few chrome elements. The cruiser is equipped with disc brakes at the front but makes do with a drum brake at the rear. The twin exhaust tips and flat floor footpegs for the rider give it a big bike look. All the components of this motorcycle are regular ones and there is no special element whatsoever.

Looking at the Keeway Superlight 200, we feel that it is a poor attempt of trying to copy expensive cruiser bikes style because the bike looks cheap and flimsy. It lacks the finish customers would except from such a bike. The Superlight has more show than actual go because we have seen bikes producing 20+ BHP from a 200cc engine whereas the one on Superlight 200 only produces 12.7 BHP. All these factors will be a big downer for the bike. But the price might attract a few people. We expect it to be priced under Rs. 1.35 lakhs (on-road). Soon after its launch, DSK would also launch the Keeway Blackster which features a more powerful 249cc engine and looks better.

The cluster looks awfully outdated and even commuter bikes come with better consoles
Few elements like the indicators and headlamp look really cheap
The Superlight 200 has an all-black theme with some chrome elements thrown in
The twin exhaust tips add to the cruiser look of this motorcycle
