DS 7 Crossback India launch might be possible. It has been spotted on test along with the India bound Citroen C5 Aircross. The cars were spotted by MotorBeamer Keerthi Kumar in Chennai.
Some of you who are not aware, DS Automobiles is a premium car brand of Citroen. The sub-brand was announced by the French carmaker in 2009.
While Citroen has announced their entry in the Indian car maket, there is no official word on the DS brand. The DS 7 Crossback is based on the same platform as the Citroen C5 Aircross.
The carmaker might be testing the DS 7 for research purpose or they can even end up introducing both the brands in India. Mind you, none of them will come for cheap.
Citroen is developing a compact SUV in India with 95 percent localisation. However, the C5 Aircross will be imported directly. It is expected to come with a price tag of Rs. 30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The DS 7 Crossback is a premium version of the C5 Aircross. The former will be even more expensive with a price range upwards of Rs. 35 lakhs (ex-showroom).
In terms of styling, the DS 7 looks like an Audi Q3 from the front profile, thanks to the grille design. It comes with LED headlights, gets a lot of chrome on the grille, window line and tailgate. The rear looks quite sporty with sleek LED lights.
The interior of the DS 7 looks way too premium than the C5 Aircross. It has a German luxury car look with layered dashboard, huge touchscreen infotainment and futuristic gearknob with fancy buttons layout.
If launched, the DS 7 Crossback is expected to share its engine with the C5 Aircross. It is likely to be a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 180 BHP, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
