Bajaj Dominar 400 sales drop to 1500 units in May, thereby registering over 33 percent drop in domestic sales.
Bajaj Auto sold 1500 units of the Dominar 400 in May 2017 as compared to 2000 units in April 2017 thereby sales registering a fall of over 33 percent. In the initial months of its launch, the Dominar 400 had been retailing at 3000 units a month.
Bajaj sold a total of 1,56,523 units in the month of May 2017 and this includes the Dominar’s sales as well. However, exports of the Dominar have seen an uptrend. Bajaj exported 1200 units of the Dominar in May as compared to 1000 units in April.
The Dominar’s monthly turnover now stands at more or less 2700 units whereas Bajaj intends to sell roughly 9000-10,000 units of the Dominar on a monthly basis by September. Bajaj’s top executives say that with more variants of the Dominar 400, it could probably achieve that figure. Reports suggest that Bajaj could be bringing a Scrambler which will come under a new brand but will be based on the Dominar.
Bajaj’s Pulsar 220 on the other hand, sells around 6000 units a month, being the largest selling product for Bajaj in the 200cc and above category. Bajaj also very recently increased prices of the Dominar by Rs. 999/- and prices now stand at Rs. 1,39,000/- for the non-ABS variant and Rs. 1,53,001/- for the ABS variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine that produces 35 HP and 35 Nm of torque and comes matched to a 6-speed gearbox.
