Detel Easy electric vehicle (EV) has been launched with a price tag of Rs. 19,999/- before taxes. Its maker calls it the world’s most economical electric 2-wheeler. The tech startup has also partnered with Bajaj Finserv for EMI finance scheme.
Design of the Detel Easy is quirky to say the least. There is nothing excessive about the 2-wheeler, just a small, clean, but a rather old design, if we are to be honest.
Bicycle-like parts such as the front suspension, seat and pedals are present, while there are two shock absorbers at the back, slim wheels and drum brakes. Three colours are available with the Detel Easy – Jet Black, Pearl White and Metallic Red.
The Detel Easy EV price might be low, but it still is powered by a 250 W electric motor and a 48V 12AH LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery that can be charged entirely in seven to eight hours.
Range of the 2-wheeler is 60 km tops with a full charge in “ideal” conditions, whatever that might be, while the vehicle’s the top speed is only 25 km/hr.
This means people riding it do not need to own a driving license and the vehicle need not be registered to be driven on Indian roads either. The firm claims the vehicle will be ideal for short distance rides and to run errands, it even has a basket upfront.
With the Detel Easy EV price being set low, the company aims to attract teenagers across India. Customers can purchase the product from their website.
