After a good break, the Maruti Alto took the top spot in the list outranking the Maruti Dzire.
The Maruti Alto led the top 10 selling car list in December with a growth of 25.79 percent. This position was sometime in coming for the Alto as it was held by the Maruti Dzire and Maruti Swift for quite sometime. Both the Maruti Dzire and Maruti Swift saw a decline of 25.24 percent and 88.22 percent respectively. Maruti managed to sell only 16,797 units of the Dzire and 11,790 units of the Swift in December.
Other popular Maruti products too saw a slip in sales. With 11,135 units sold, the Maruti Baleno dropped to 6th position in December 2018 from 3rd in November 2018. Similarly the Maruti Vitara Brezza declined two positions down with a 48.73 percent drop in sales. In the Maruti range, the Celerio and the Eeco saw a jump in sales.
Hyundai gave Maruti a tough fight with the Elite i20 coming at the top in Hyundai line-up. Hyundai managed to sell 11,940 units, a rise of close to 12 percent. Hyundai sold 11,450 units of the Grand i10 which helped the car to secure the 5th position. That said, the Hyundai Santro gave the top 10 a miss in December.
