India’s premiere automotive design house DC Design known for its outlandish designs and custom models launched the Eleron concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Eleron concept was unveiled by founder Mr. Dilip Chabbria and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan at the Expo. The concept model is likely to go into production by 2016 with over Rs. 186 crores invested in the manufacturing facility.
Coming to the DC Eleron, the concept is a two-door, four-seater SUV that is a represent the radical design language the firm is known for. The Eleron measures 5055 mm in length, 1965 mm in width and 1710 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3090 mm and a impressive 240 mm of ground clearance. The concept features a targa-roof. In terms of design the concept SUV has an intimidating design language with bulbous proportions throughout. The trapezoidal shaped front grille is big and wide while the headlights cluster are sleek and sharp in design and feature Daytime running lights with Bi-halogens. The bumper is huge and features rather puny fog lights. The side profile has a very masculine appeal with the pronounced wheel arches and the large doors. The rear on the other hand has a stout appearance with twin exhausts and the taillight running across the rear.
The interior on the other hand is rather simplistic. DC has done up the interior in black and tan leather with wooden finish on the centre console and the dashboard. Most main controls have been replaced by a multi-functional touchscreen surrounded by circular vents. The large doors should make the ingress and egress comfortable, with decent legroom at the rear. The centre panel runs till the rear making the Eleron a strict four-seater.
Coming to the powertrain, the DC Eleron concept is powered by a 2-litre petrol turbo charged engine capable of producing 265 HP of power and 360 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all the four wheels via an all wheel drive setup, while the engine is mated to 5-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets double wishbone setup in front and air suspension setup at the rear. The concept car is was riding on 22-inch wheels, while the stopping power will come from disc brakes. The SUV uses a space frame with roll cage, while the body is made of carbon composite. The SUV is capable of doing 200 km/hr with 0-100 coming in 9 seconds.
DC has priced the Eleron at Rs. 35 lakhs and will start with the production of the car in 2016. The new manufacturing plant has a capacity of 500 units for the Eleron on an annual basis. DC also revealed the Tia two-seater concept and the Avanti sports car at its pavilion today.
