DC Avanti Caught Undisguised, Interiors Revealed

The DC Avanti gets major design changes ahead of launch. Interiors look very basic. The vehicle will be priced at Rs. 35 lakhs and deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2015.

The headlights, bumper and bonnet have been redesigned

Dilip Chhabria first unveiled his sports car Avanti at the 2012 Auto Expo. The vehicle received a lot of publicity, both good as well as bad. While enthusiasts have always been impatient to know more about the car, few interested customers even booked the vehicle for themselves before its official launch. The DC Avanti was spied undergoing testing many times but now the vehicle has been caught completely undisguised. The exteriors as well as the interiors are fully revealed now and this also means that the vehicle’s launch is very near.

The first thing that we notice is that DC has significantly tweaked the exteriors and now the vehicle looks much different than what was originally showcased. The headlights and their surrounds have been redesigned and we must say that the older design looked much better. The hood now comes with a black styling element with a chrome strip in the centre. The rear of the Avanti too gets a tweaked bumper and redesigned tail lights. We won’t be surprised if people mistake the rear of the vehicle for the front and vice versa.

Moving to the interiors, we see that DC has incorporated a very simple design for the dashboard. The steering wheel too looks very basic. The centre console, door panels and the steering get orange accents so we’re guessing that DC will provide matching accents depending on what colour vehicle you buy. Powering the Avanti is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine from Ford that churns out 250 HP of power and 366 Nm of torque. Bookings for the Avanti have begun at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs and the vehicle will be priced at approximately Rs. 35 lakhs (ex-factory). Deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2015.
