Nissan India’s sub-brand Datsun showcased its first offering in the Indian market, the GO hatchback at the 2014 Auto Expo which will be launched in the country in the coming weeks. Datsun also showcased several accessorised versions of the GO hatchback at the event, giving a glimpse as to all the optional extra’s customers can opt for when purchasing the GO. The show cars received accessories such as alloy wheels, body graphics, rear spoiler, roof rails, reverse camera and a chrome finished exhaust tip.
The Datsun GO is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine also seen on the Micra; albeit detuned to produce lower power to enhance fuel efficiency. The GO returns an ARAI rated mileage of 20.6 km/l and will be available in three trim levels when launched next month. All the variants will be priced under Rs. 4 lakhs which will make the vehicle very competitive. The Datsun GO will be competing against the segment leading Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark.
The Dastun GO has a sure-shot advantage over its competitors, not only does the car boast of more interior room but quality will be much better than the Alto 800. The price range will enable Datsun to compete against multiple vehicles including the Wagon R, i10 and Beat. Datsun also unveiled the GO+ MPV at the Auto Expo, which will be the next major launch by the company. The company world premiered the Redi-GO small car concept as well, which is aimed at the younger generation and is still sometime away from production.
