Datsun now offers ABS as standard on the redi-GO but driver-side airbag will be limited to the top end variants only.
Datsun has slightly updated the redi-GO with the addition of ABS across all variants as standard, the addition of features like remote key and central locking in the higher T, T(O) and S variants. The A variant of the entry-level hatchback now comes with power steering.
Price of the base variant has now been increased by Rs. 7000/- after the addition of ABS. Renault Kwid is the only car in this entry-level segment to feature ABS, with Maruti’s Alto 800 and K10 both don’t get this feature even as an option.
The redi-GO’s top variant, the S variant, gets a three-point seat belt for front and rear passengers along with a two-point unit for the middle passenger. The current redi-GO needed an update as it wouldn’t have been able to meet the upcoming crash test norms. The stricter crash test norms will come into effect soon, after which sales of cars unable to meet the basic safety criteria won’t be allowed to be sold.
The redi-GO might also get a speed warning system, rear parking sensors, a seatbelt reminder system and a reinforced body shell. It also might get a touchscreen infotainment system.
