Nissan re-introduced the Datsun brand in mid-2013, giving a glimpse of the Datsun GO hatchback at a grand event in Delhi. The Japanese automaker announced their plans of showcasing the Datsun GO at the 2014 Auto Expo and here they are. The Datsun GO is being showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in its full glory. Alongside the GO hatchback, Datsun has unveiled the GO+ MPV at the 2014 Auto Expo. Datsun GO+ is a compact MPV aimed at the upcoming Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and Maruti Ertiga.
In terms of styling, Datsun GO is treated with mature design elements that look aggressive as well as confident. Unlike the Nissan Micra, the Datsun GO gets sharp styling panels. Datsun GO+ is literally a stretched version of the Datsun GO hatchback with an extra row of seats. The exteriors and interiors of the Datsun GO+ are directly lifted from the hatchback. In December 2013, Datsun started a roadshow campaign, where the Datsun GO hatchback was showcased across India in more than 90 cities to spread awareness of the hatchback.
Powering the Datsun GO and GO+ is a Nissan Micra derived 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 68 BHP with a peak torque of 104 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Both the products from the budget brand focus on providing space, convenience, practicality and low cost of ownership. Nissan is targeting the Datsun brand at the emerging markets and towards the first time car buyers.
