The Indonesian automotive market is loaded with plenty of vehicles in the MPV segment as MPVs account for a major chunk of sales. The Datsun GO+ MPV which was launched earlier in Indonesia last month has been receiving a tremendous response from Indonesian customers and the new vehicle has received more than 3500 bookings till date. The newly launched Datsun GO+ MPV is giving stiff competition to vehicles like the Suzuki Ertiga (imported from India), Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy, Nissan Evalia, etc.
The Datsun GO+ MPV is based on the Datsun GO hatchback and the MPV shares major design cues from its hatchback sibling. The Datsun GO+ is the cheapest MPV available currently and isn’t feature rich. The equipment list is pretty basic and cost cutting is evident in several areas as we had seen in the GO hatchback. The GO+ has been targeted at consumers who look for practicality rather than features and other gizmos. However, since the Datsun brand is aimed at entry-level buyers, pricing of the vehicle is crucial to its success.
The Datsun GO+ has acres of space similar to its hatchback sibling which will be the major USP of this MPV. The GO+ MPV will be launched in the Indian market later this year and we expect the vehicle to be equipped with more features in order to attract the value conscious Indian buyer. The vehicle will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine which powers the GO hatchback. If Datsun can receive even close to 3000 bookings for the GO+ in India within the first month of launch, it would be an amazing start for the vehicle.
