The Datsun GO Cross will come with a price lower than the Maruti Vitara Brezza, launch in the near future.
Datsun is working on its first crossover, the GO Cross which will be launched in the near future in the Indian market. Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Datsun GO Cross indeed received a great response. It has now been learnt that the automaker is aiming to keep the pricing of the GO Cross below the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
Pricing the GO Cross lesser than the Vitara Brezza and also making it a more desirable car (especially the interiors) is likely to drive the crossover to success. The company has studied that 80 percent of the Renault Kwids sold have a touchscreen infotainment system and this has prompted the carmaker to deliver a similar interface on the GO Cross too. Being based on the same V platform as in the GO and GO+, the GO Cross will be a significantly larger car than the other Datsun cars.
Powering the current line-up of Datsun cars are only petrol engines ranging from 800cc to 1.2-litre. However, it remains to be seen what strategy will the automaker adopt for powering the GO Cross with a diesel engine, given that people in India prefer SUVs or crossovers with a oil-burners.
