Ford has showcased a customized EcoSport at the 2016 Auto Expo with a number of cosmetic updates while no official news about the launch has been revealed.
Ford India produced its millionth vehicle at its production facility in Chennai last year and the one millionth vehicle to be produced was none other than the EcoSport, such is the importance of the compact SUV in the automaker’s lineup. This was also seen at Ford’s pavilion at the 2016 Auto Expo that showcased a customized version of the EcoSport.
The customized Ford EcoSport sports a number of cosmetic updates on the outside like the metallic black ORVMs, black alloy wheels and roof with metallic black roof rails and an uncovered wheel attached to the boot, black cladding running around the compact SUV along with black slats on the grille and black lining around the headlamp housing which is also blackened.
Coming to the interiors, the cabin does not have a lot of upgrades if we ignore the brown stitching on the seats and the black cladding around the center console. The rest of the interiors remain unchanged along with all the features offered on the top-end variant.
The Ford EcoSport is offered with a variety of three engines that include a 1.5-litre petrol motor that produces 110 BHP at 6300 RPM, 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol unit producing 124 BHP at 6000 RPM and a 1.5-litre oil burner that gives out 99 BHP at 9750 RPM. These engines can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox (6-speed automatic also available on the 1.5L petrol) sending power to the front wheels.
The second generation Ford EcoSport was first showcased as a concept at the 2012 Auto Expo and then it was launched in mid-2015 where it directly stood against the Renault Duster which was the only competitor in the segment.
