Dacia, one of the brands very famous for offering customers who consider a car as just a means of transportation a simple practical vehicle at a killer pricing has brought its new model, the Lodgy at the 2012 Geneva International Motor Show. The Dacia Lodgy, just like any other Dacia branded car shouts practicality, reliability and value for money from all angles. The new Dacia Lodgy heralds the arrival of a new generation of Dacia vehicles which will have nicely designed interiors and get equipped with the modern technology, or so as the company says. Dacia says that utmost care has been taken to see that the vehicle reflects all the characteristics that a Dacia brand stands for yet with a touch of sophistication as you go higher in the variant line-up.

Under the bonnet, the Dacia Lodgy gets the option of both diesel and petrol engines suiting the needs of the different consumes across the globe. In gasoline, the Lodgy comes with a 1.6 litre MPI and the new turbocharged TCe 115 with direct injection. Though performance figures not yet revealed, the TCe 115 represents the latest in engine technology from Dacia which was first introduced in the Megane and the Scenic models. Although not matching the power output of a 1.6 MPI, the TCe 115 also boasts of excellent fuel economy and CO2 emission levels.

In diesels, the Lodgy gets 2 engines both based on the renowned 1.5 dCi which currently powers a host of Dacia, Renault and Nissan models. On the inside, Dacia has brought out a brand new multimedia system. Called the MEDIA NAV, it is Dacia’s next gen infotainment system which incorporated a radio, auxiliary sockets for MP3 players, Bluetooth connectivity and Satnav via a 7 inch touch screen display. The drivers can also make handsfree calls and sync their contacts and call registries. It also provides iPod and smartphone connectivity via USB. Although, not destined for the Indian market soon, the car does hold a lot of promise for the Indian market. However, the question is will Renault do a Logan episode again in the Indian market?
