Completely Reworked Pulsar AS 200 In The Works

Bajaj Pulsar AS 200 Red

Bajaj Auto acknowledges that the Pulsar AS 200 needs a lot of work and they will re-launch it.

The Pulsar AS 200 was discontinued in India in late 2016

Bajaj Auto launched the Pulsar AS 200 in 2015 but discontinued it late last year to bring back the Pulsar 200 NS earlier this year. The NS was brought back due to demand while the AS did not live up to its name of Adventure Sport as it was just the 200 NS with four more features – a windshield, semi-fairing, projector headlight and a new rear mudguard.

While Bajaj Auto still produces the AS 150 (to be replaced soon by the AS 160) and AS 200 for export markets, the company is completely re-working the AS 200 to make it a more purpose based machine. Bajaj brought back the 200 NS with several improvements and will re-launch the AS 200 when they are ready. With the KTM 390 Adventure already confirmed, the Pulsar AS series could be a derivative of the same and thus be more adventure oriented.

Adventure motorcycles are finding a huge fan following in India with the Royal Enfield Himalayan being the only option for the masses. With BMW already having announced the G310 GS for an India launch by November, this segment is sure to heat up. TVS too could launch an adventure bike as it has already developed the Akula 310, based on the G310R.
