Maruti Suzuki has entered the compact SUV segment with a bang as the Vitara Brezza has managed to outsell the EcoSport in its first month of sales itself.
Compact SUVs are witnessing crazy demand in India. Buyers love this segment since it offers them a ‘bigger’ car at a price of a premium hatchback or a C-segment sedan. Hyundai raised a storm in 2015 when they launched the Creta. Despite being priced quite dearly, the vehicle is seeing huge demand and it is also the highest selling compact SUV in India.
Maruti launched the Vitara Brezza last month and if the initial numbers are anything to go by, the vehicle is a runaway success. In fact, in its first month itself, the Brezza has overtaken its arch rival, the Ford EcoSport by a considerable margin. However, the EcoSport has also seen a very good rise in numbers, and it is likely that this happened due to the fact that the automaker reduced the prices of the SUV immediately after the Vitara’s launch.
The Mahindra TUV300 also competes with the Vitara Brezza and EcoSport and the vehicle is bringing in consistent sales every month, albeit much lower than its rivals. The Maruti S-Cross is also fetching in consistent numbers now. Talking about the Renault Duster, the SUV received a much-awaited mid-life update in March and this seems to have brought a huge spike in the car’s sales.
The Mahindra NuvoSport is another new kid on the block and 1298 sales even before the vehicle’s actual launch is a pretty good sign. It is going to be interesting to check out the car’s April sales. The Nissan Terrano witnesses a dip in numbers while the Mahindra Quanto has now been discontinued to make way for the NuvoSport.
